Standup digests in the channel

A daily standup is often a meeting that could have been a list. In Bullpen, the digest lands in the channel where the work already lives.

The meeting habit

The usual standup is a recurring invite. Fifteen minutes, every weekday, on the calendar. People take turns reporting status out loud. What moved. What is blocked. What is next.

The useful lines are hard to find later. They lived in a call. There is no clean trail next to yesterday's thread. Someone who missed the slot reads a recap that never quite matches what was said, or they ask the same question in the channel after the meeting ends.

Remote folks wait their turn. They join for one sentence, then sit through everyone else's. Time zones stretch the habit: half the team reports late so the other half can hear it live. The meeting holds the list until the invite fires.

A standup is a list of facts the team already has. The calendar is a way to force those facts into the same fifteen minutes.

A list in the channel

In Bullpen, the bullpen is the team's space. Text channels sit there with the rest of the day's talk. A standup digest is a channel message, or a short thread, with three things:

• What moved
• What is blocked
• What is next

It posts where people already read. It stays in the same list as the rest of the day's talk, so it is searchable with the thread rather than stuck in a calendar event nobody opens twice.

The digest sits next to the work. A blocker named in the standup is a message the person who can unblock it can open. A "next" line is still there at two in the afternoon, when the actual next step starts.

People write the list when they have the facts. They do not wait for a slot. A remote teammate reads it when they start, in the channel they already open. The standup is the day's first messages, not a separate event on another app.

If something needs a real conversation, the thread is already there. Reply under the blocker. The status and the follow-up stay in one place.

Agents that help without a separate bot chat

An agent on the roster can draft or gather the digest into the channel like a member. It posts under its own name, in the same thread everyone else is reading. If it draws from channel messages, the answer cites those messages. The citation is a link to the line it came from.

That keeps the standup in the record. The digest is a channel message. The sources are channel messages. Anyone allowed to see them can open them. There is nothing to copy out of a private bot chat and paste back for the rest of the team.

The agent follows the same membership rules as everyone else. An administrator decides which channels it works in. The digest lands only where that agent is allowed to post.
